500 miles a gallon?

I had the pleasure of working on the solar portion of a Plug In Electric Hybrid(PHEV)recently.According to GM(!)over 75 % of drivers drive less than 60 miles a day.The PHEV that I worked on will drive for the first 60 miles,or more on batteries, and then the Gasoline engine kicks in.We added 240 Watts of solar on the roof ,which just about covers the draw of the operating system, removing that power need from the batteries, and hopefully increasing the battery only range. We were working on a Toyota Prius, which had been retrofitted by Hymotion,a company right here in Ontario. They add a lithium battery pack to the existing NiMH pack, and claim mileage of 125-500 MPG.They can retrofit Camry hybrids and Ford Escape hybrids, and we have received interest in doing solar addons for at least two other vehicles.Let’s see -We can spend Billions on researching Hydrogen, and fuel cells OR We can use an immediate solution which is here, now, and available to mitigate greenhouse gas emissions, smog, particulate, and that bogeyman of the eighties Acid Rain(remember when we used to worry about that?)
