Subscribing to EvolutionGreen


The following describes the many ways in which to subscribe to EvolutionGreen. First, there are the less tech savvy ways, creating a bookmark or favourite (not really what you would call a subscription) and making us your browser homepage. Below we will describe the most up-to-date methods of content syndication.

On EvolutionGreen.com, you will see a series of small buttons. These buttons are used to subscribe to EvolutionGreen in various ways. Here is what they do:

What is an Aggregator?
An aggregator or news aggregator or feed reader is client software that uses a web feed to retrieve syndicated web content such as weblogs, podcasts, vlogs, and mainstream mass media websites, or in the case of a search aggregator, a customized set of search results.

How does an Aggregator Work?
Aggregators reduce the time and effort needed to regularly check websites for updates, creating a unique information space or "personal newspaper." Once subscribed to a feed, an aggregator is able to check for new content at user-determined intervals and retrieve the update. The content is sometimes described as being "pulled" to the subscriber, as opposed to "pushed" with email or IM. Unlike recipients of some "pushed" information, the aggregator user can easily unsubscribe from a feed.

RSS Owl is an example of a good free RSS Aggregator.
 
The next is the Google Reader button which allows you to subscribe to Evolution Green on your Google Homepage or Google Reader account. Once selected you will be taken to the Google Reader site and asked one of two ways to subscribe. After you have selected your subscription method, you will either see Evolution Green headlines on your Google homepage when you are signed it, or you will be able to read Evolution Green posts in Google Reader.
 
Want to subscribe via Yahoo? Selecting this button will add Evolution Green headlines to your My Yahoo! page, and you can move these headlines around the page so they are where you want them.
 
You can do the same thing with MSN by clicking on the button above.
 
Bloglines is a web-based aggregator (no downloads necessary).
 
Newsgator sells software that syndicates content on the web.
